Recently we had our Zach's IEP and the annual question "what are your future goals for Zachary" was asked. I could write volumes about what I REALLY want for my son. But instead I say what is at the core of every life, for him to live life to his fullest potential, to have meaningful relationships, for him to feel secure and loved and understood as best we can understand. Like so many others, I have been reading with a hard pain in my chest Kate Leong's sad goodbye to her darling Gavin. It is so important to find meaning in each other's being and try to dispense with valuing only action and achievement. Of course, those things are good, but they are not the most important. Gavin, Ben and Nicholas teach us what is most important and it's our job to learn that lesson again and again every single day. In the past I've sent in a private social worker and I have tried for 2 years to get service from another agency. The school is fabulous but they are not being given the resources they need. Very frustrating!BLOOM - Parenting Kids With Disabilitieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06901482901008135659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-447392662850613354.post-34045456442502512762013-04-17T02:51:02.489-04:002013-04-17T02:51:02.489-04:00Sometimes I feel incredibly anxious and even guilt...Sometimes I feel incredibly anxious and even guilty that I'm not doing enough for Sophie, paying enough attention, whatever. It's an awful feeling -- sometimes vague and other times really strong, even eighteen years in. This post will help me the next time I feel that. If they don't know, they should get help from the board consultants. I wonder how he feels being taken out of class. I hope it gets better for you.
