This is why the average person, with or without a disability, doing whatever they can to survive, while bettering the lives of others in some small way, are my heroes. People much like Ben and you.<br /><br />Moreover, some kids, who leave Holland Bloorview, will never become self-advocates or self sufficient. And, what of those youth, who are now living well, but will experience greater paralysis due discontinued treatment? Where do they go? How does this uphold family-centred care or the principle of interdependence? He taught me so much about our responsibility to care for others, to advocate for those that can't advocate for themselves and friendship. When he passed away his mom asked me Why? Why did we put in so much work for him to pass? I told her it was because he had come to teach some very special lessons. I know his life had value, because my life is richer for having known him.
