As a mom of 2 kids with special needs - a 5-yr-old daughter with CP and a 2-yr-old daughter with Down Syndrome - I definitely have had moments - moments I'm not proud of - in which I, despite being a tolerant mom of two kids with special needs - have been, like Meriah, scared of monsters. My daughters are the light and the joy of my life but still as special needs parents we worry that others might not view our kids' potential the same way we do. Thank you Meriah for sharing such a relatable moment in your life as a special needs parent.mommyof2noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-447392662850613354.post-73778064044590994092012-08-16T13:37:20.067-04:002012-08-16T13:37:20.067-04:00Clearly the "monsters" here are the hosp...Clearly the "monsters" here are the hospital professionals who would snuff out the life of their own child (or ours!) and the doctor who attended to that poor dehumanized child 50 years ago and still believes it would have been preferable to actively kill that baby with his own hands. Would it have occurred to anyone to give that child some love and comfort? This is the very real evil that I fear when I see a group of disabled persons walk by, that they will not be treated as they should be. That all my life I will have to be on guard for my own child to be accepted as human and treated as anyone else.Kate Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10553553874360381779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-447392662850613354.post-30697280596630996922012-08-16T10:58:50.660-04:002012-08-16T10:58:50.660-04:00It seems that the monster in us should be taken ca...It seems that the monster in us should be taken care well. I know that everyone of us has our own difference in personality. I think that it necessary to show them their better personality to make them into a better person someday.Berta Leihttp://www.nest-shop.co.uk/noreply@blogger.com
